A silhouette is the projection of our exterior features into our physical world. In this project, I wanted to fill these empty shapes with personalities by involving the audience in the process.
I combined portrait photography with children’s drawings. I gave them a frame of a 35mm film with a photographed silhouette on it. Then I asked them to imagine what their faces would look like and to draw them on the frames. Afterwards, the images were scanned digitally.
The outcome varies, but the creativity of the children fills this series with life. At the end of the project, I realised how easily they sense the personality of someone and just how much a silhouette can tell.
